Innish : Love! AtlasPROfilax treatment (done)

AtlasPROfilax treatment (done)

Posted on Jan 17th, 2008 by Innish : Love! Innish
Well, I had my Atlas reinstalled (as they say) by Troy Roper of AtlasPROfilax of Utah.
Nice guy, very solid, in both a spiritual and physical sense.

The treatment consisted of a consultation and then a checking of my current situation.  Right leg longer--you know the story--and tightness here and there. My range of motion for my head was probably 160 degrees. He deliberately and slowly checked the alignment of my vertebrae, especially the C1 (Atlas).

Then, he stood in front of me and had me lay my head on his chest. He massaged my neck muscles some (they were very tight) and then used a device that sounded like a 1950's SciFi film's ray gun. It pulsated gently, and he guided it with one hand and floated the vertebrae with the other. No pain or discomfort. I never saw the "device;" I sensed that it was something kept a little under wraps to avoid duplication.  I kept waiting for a click or thunk or something that told me that the atlas seated in its correct position.

Then he had me walk around, and he watched my walk and alignment.  I felt more seated in my pelvis, if that makes sense. And my range of motion for my head was now closer to 210 degrees. Seriously. I could easily and smoothly look over my shoulder, and that hasn't happened in a while.

Then I rested. My girlfriend was also getting the treatment, and so while he was "reinstalling" her atlas, I lay there and simply observed my body.  I could feel subtle spasms in various muscles, just like when I have a good Svaroopa yoga session and feel the release for hours afterward.

After he finished her, she rested and Troy brought me in the treatment room again. More checking.  Then he brought out a russian biofeedback machine and used it all over my neck and around the occipital bone. It felt like pins and needles, electricity, or (I'm trusting his description, as I'm not inked) a tattoo. I started to wonder if it was going to remove hairs and blackheads, but he assured me it wouldn't.

That was about it.

The warnings: might be dizzy or nauseous after (neither of us were), it might take a while to integrate the new position of the neck vertebrae after so many years of compensation, and so we might experience pain occasionally that moves around -- e.g., from the shoulder to the hip to the knee--, we may go through emotional purges, and we should be careful for a while with active forms of massage or chiropractic.

What I've noticed is:
  • my eyes seem very bright and piercing
  • I still feel very centered in my body
  • my meditation this morning seemed very deep
  • my sleep was a little disturbed and short
  • phantom pains (not as if they don't exist, but when they don't seem to have substance)
I sense that we'll be processing the changes over the next few weeks, months, and perhaps even years. I'll update occasionally.

Tonight, I'm participating in the Munay Ki given by my Shamanic practitioner/energy worker friend Jeff Grothwahl. The Munay Ki are the nine great rites of initiation of the medicine way. I am glad that i had the Atlas treatment prior to the Munay Ki, as during the MK course the nine rites are transferred energetically.  I'll be watching to notice if the transmission is received differently that it was prior. (I've received the rites once before and during my training.)
